Antique Victorian Old-Cut Diamond (0.90ctw) Dormeuse Earrings in 18K Gold (circa 1890-1910)

A spectacular pair of late Victorian diamond earrings, crafted in rich 18-carat warm yellow gold and dating to approximately 1890–1910.

Each earring features a substantial antique old-cut diamond (~0.43ct each) suspended beneath a smaller rose-cut diamond (~0.2ct each). The articulated construction creates subtle movement when worn, allowing the larger diamonds to catch the light with every turn. Unlike the precise uniformity of modern brilliant cuts, these early diamonds have individual proportions and a softer, broader flash part of the unmistakable character of antique hand-cut stones.

The sculptural openwork galleries are particularly beautiful when viewed from the side and behind. 

With approximately 0.90 carat of natural diamonds between the four stones, these have a striking presence without feeling overly formal. A genuinely special pair of antique earrings: luxurious, beautifully constructed and still remarkably wearable more than a century after they were made.

• Condition: Great antique condition. On one earring, the ear wire does not sit completely within the groove of the hinged clasp when closed, leaving a gap of approximately 1–2 mm. Please refer to the close-up photograph showing the exact fit. This does not interfere with wear, and the clasp remains functional. If desired, a small clear silicone earring stopper may be worn behind the earlobe for additional security.

As with all antique diamonds, the stones have been individually cut by hand. Slight differences in outline, facet arrangement and character are natural and form part of their antique charm.
