When I turned 30, I made a decision that changed everything: I walked away from my career in advertising to follow my heart. That journey led me to Turkey, where I studied under a master artisan, an old-world goldsmith whose techniques had been passed down through generations.
That experience didn’t just teach me technique but it opened my eyes to a different way of seeing jewelry. I became interested in the jewels and artisans of the past, who often spent months and sometimes even years crafting a single piece by hand.
It fascinated me how these treasures challenge our modern expectations. Today, the word “engagement ring” might bring a very specific image to mind but a hundred years ago, love was expressed through snake rings, secret compartments, hidden engravings. There’s a kind of poetry in that, and I want to bring it back!
As my personal collection of antique and vintage jewelry grew, so did a new passion for preserving and sharing stories through jewels. That’s how Stellar Tales was born in 2018.
